AB de Villiers: Coming Of Age

by Hasan Hameed
(Australia, QLD)

AB de Villiers lands in Australia.

I remember AB de Villiers in the Perth test match (Australia vs South Africa) in 2008 where AB caught my imagination, not only by his solid batting technique and breathtaking fielding, but also by his polite, positive and mannerful body language.

I knew then that a star was on the rise.

In one of the most stressful situations in cricket, de Villiers scored 106 and from that moment became my favourite cricketer!

A.B. de Villiers : AUS VS SA 2012/13
by: Hasan He is doing a fine job at the moment. Hopefully it lasts for another 5-6 years to come. Are South Africa touring Australia later this year? If so, how do you think they will go? Do you think South Africa can beat Australia in their own backyard?Yes there is a tour and yes I think SA can beat Australia. The balance of the SA side has never been better, good depth in the batting and with the emergence of Vernon Philander they have a fantastic seam attack. Australia are too unsettled in key positions, particularly the top of the order and still need to find a world class spinner. Money on SA at the moment.

Update on AB de Villiers
by: Hasan Hameed haha yeah……..he is the odi and t20 captain now..how do u think he will fair?Hi Hassan, I think he’ll do well. He is a bright cricketer, he reads the game well and is empathic to players needs, which his players will respond to.He’ll need time to find his own captaincy style, to get a sense of the space between having to consciously think about the game, its strategy and the decisions he has to make and then getting to a level where he intuitively feels the game and responds accordingly. Lets hope he can finally get SA over the ICC finals hurdle.

AB de Villiers.
by: Coach @ mycrcketgame.com Hassan you are so right, AB has grown into a world class player. As a quirky aside, AB has actually developed a better record overseas than he has in SA.Interestingly, for a country that has eaten up and spat out so many cricketers, that AB and JP Duminy settled in so well in Australia.AB is now in the top 10 in both Test and ODI rankings for December 2010.

Best wishes Coach

Return to AB de Villiers.
