Hi Sir,
I’m a left arm pace bowler who is 19 years old. I can bowl fast around 127-130 kmph in net or during practice match or session with a free mind.

When I know that I have to play a trial match, I begin to to get anxious and wonder how well I will do.

Because of this I’m getting depresse and I can’t perform well in the match, even my friends ask me why your pace was so slow.

So what can I do to improve my bowling in the trial match?
Please giive me tips to improve my pace also…..

Please reply soon.thanks in advance to you sir.

Bowling in nets is different to bowling in an actual game of cricket. As when we talk about nets there isn’t any pressure on the bowler and the pitch is a bit different too.

The other thing you need to keep in mind is that when you bowl in nets, the batsman is not looking to slog or score runs but he is actually correcting him self. where as in an actual match the opposition are starving for runs and will try anything to score them.

Now when you talk about playing a trail match or league game, this is the time when your experience jumps in and your performance depends on how well have you trained also how long have you been playing the actual games of cricket.

Here are couple of tips for ya:
1) make sure that you are not bowling no-balls in nets. as this can fear you in actual game of cricket and disturb your rhythm. As rhythm is the key to fast bowling.

2)make sure your body is not falling on either side when delivering the ball.

3) practice aim bowling. Place a mark on good length.5steps for batsman. and keep hitting the mark.

4) make sure you releasing point is accurate. ( the fuller you want to bowl the higher it will be the releasing point)

5)wrist snap: wrist snap can really speed up your bowl. Practice wrist snaps on its own.

6)Seam landing: try and get ball bounce on the seam, it will give extra bounce and also can cause slight deviation. ( Mcgrath and asif are great examples of it)

Good luck,
Ray.
